The play “Visa” is based on a true story known to the Moroccan public opinion in 2009 about a Moroccan woman from the eastern city of Oujda who suffered from bone cancer and applied for a visa for treatment in a French hospital. The application included all the necessary medical, administrative, and financial guarantees. Mrs. Aisha El Mokhtari and her family will be surprised that the application was rejected without much reason. With the family’s insistence on upholding the right to Treatment and travel, we will be surprised that the reason for the refusal to grant the visa is due to the similarity of names with an Algerian woman who is banned from entering French soil. The press wrote about the subject, and the issue became a matter of public opinion. It was discussed in the Moroccan parliament and was the subject of a response by the Moroccan Minister of Health. Still, the intransigence of French foreign interests continued until Mrs. Aicha Mokhtari surrendered her soul.
The Visa, a play about the tragedy of the contemporary human condition, combines documentary and drama to tell the story of the pain caused by the idea of borders…
