ABOUT ME .

.

Thank you for visiting my official website. Here, you will find information about my work as a playwright, researcher, and professor. I am passionate about theatre and storytelling, and this space is dedicated to sharing my creative journey, ideas, and projects with you.

I’m Kamal KHALLADI, a playwright, researcher, and Professor of Playwriting and Dramaturgy at Ibn Tofail Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Letters in Morocco. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to exploring the transformative power of theatre, both on the page and the stage.

My passion for storytelling has led me to create works that engage with complex social, political, and cultural themes. In 2010, my play “Damage” was honored with the first Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity, a recognition that remains a pivotal moment in my creative journey. I strive to write plays that resonate with audiences across different cultures while reflecting the intricate realities of life in Morocco and the broader Arab world.

Beyond writing, I am actively involved in academia and research. At Ibn Tofail University, I work closely with students to cultivate new voices in theatre, encouraging them to push the boundaries of narrative and dramaturgy. My research focuses on innovative storytelling techniques and their role in contemporary theatre.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of participating in numerous international residencies in the United States and Europe. These experiences have not only enriched my understanding of theatre but also allowed me to collaborate with diverse artists and scholars. I regularly contribute to seminars and conferences on writing and dramaturgy, both in Morocco and internationally, where I enjoy engaging with other thought leaders in the field.

Theatre, for me, is a continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation, between the local and the global. Through my work as a playwright, professor, and researcher, I aim to contribute to the evolving landscape of theatre and inspire future generations to tell their own stories with courage and creativity.
